Marin Needle Arts Guild
P.O. Box 6015, San Rafael, CA 94903

The Marin Needle Arts Guild brings together quilters, needle artists and fiber artists. Membership is open to anyone who has an interest in the Needle Arts.

Next workshop is May 26th! presented by Kathi Sibbald. In the workshop Kathi will teach us how to make the cute wall hangings. This should be a fun day. Make sure you sign up and get your supply list. Check out Kathi's samples : "Faces" and start thinking about how you want to represent yourself or someone else! This is a great way to get the creative juices flowing.

Our goal is to promote the Needle Arts through education. This year, 2012, we are continuing our efforts to build our membership and teach others a variety of skills. There will be workshop classes the 3rd Saturday of most months. Members are always available to help anyone interested in learning a new skill, or improving their techniques. Beginners are encouraged to come join us for a fun filled day of learning and productivity.

Our 2012 Opportunity Quilt is waiting in the wings to be unveiled. Come see what the guild did this year with Asian Fabrics. Picture coming soon!

We are continuing what we started in 2011 working with Broadway Quilts and American Legion Volunteers from Sonoma the guild making quilts, pillowcases, caps and other items that are delivered to the troops. Quilts are designed for the wounded and are delivered from Travis AFB to Afghanistan. The goal is for every wounded soldier to receive a quilt as they begin their journey home. These quilts are a specific size, 45" x 81" (gurney size). Samples of some of the donated items can be found on Wounded Warrior page. The American Legion sends care packages to the troops several times a month; there is a box at Broadway Quilts where folks can drop off personal items (soaps, lotions, pocket books, cards, candy, gum, mints etc.) that will be distributed to the troops.

There are always Outreach projects to work on, a few are listed below:

    • Quilts to be donated to the community
    • Activity Blankets to make for hospitals
    • Knitted scarves for the Veterans
    • Quilts being created and sent to returning Veterans
    • Socks & Mittens for children to have in the winter months.
